At Smith Tool & Design, we are committed to providing our customers with 100% satisfaction with regard to service, dependability, delivery, and quality of our products. We assure precision quality by using the latest technology. The CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) is use to monitor each part that is checked by our QC personnel. Our Quality Control department maintains our SPC (Statistical Process Control) system and monitors the quality of our parts at every step of the machining process. Machine operators are provided with Operator's Logs, which contain all dimensions and tolerances relevant to their particular operation. They make checks at regular intervals and record their actual findings. Our QC personnel make random spot checks to verify these tests. All our parts undergo a rigorous "End of Run" audit by Quality Control. Only if this final inspection reveals "NO DEFECTS" may the parts be shipped. We have procedures in place as to the disposition of re-work and scrap in order to assure that these never get mixed with good parts. All our measuring instruments are calibrated biannually to insure the accuracy that is required to produce high quality parts for our customers.
